Located in Rellingen near Hamburg, the property measuring 10,000 square metres will be home to an 8,500-square-metre data centre, offering room for 632 server cabinets. These cabinets are known as “racks”. Each of these racks requires around three square metres of space and can, once completed, be leased by companies both large and small.
This trendsetting data centre, called dataR, offers a wide range of possibilities. The building is scheduled for completion by 2026 at the latest. Numerous racks have already been reserved – the demand speaks for itself.
“Advancing digitalisation and artificial intelligence entail a technologically challenging transformation for data centres. With dataR, we have developed an innovative, especially sustainable co-location data centre, setting a benchmark across Germany. What’s especially attractive for Rellingen is the waste heat from the cooling process, which will be used as heating energy,” explains Andreas Janker, who manages x-ion GmbH together with Martin Bosner, also a co-owner.
dataR is designed with energy-efficiency and sustainability in mind. One prime example is the planned waste-heat recovery system. Unavoidable waste heat from the data centre is used to heat the surrounding district. It will be used in the adjacent school complex and several other buildings.
Smart air-conditioning cuts CO2 emissions, while the green roof of the office building also helps offset a high level of carbon.
A photovoltaic system rounds off the sustainability concept.
But how did OBO contribute to this outstanding project?
Cable support systems ensure that cables are safely routed and that the building is reliably supplied with power.
OBO cable ladder systems stand out through their high load capacity and good ventilation. Sie eignen sich daher insbesondere zur Installation von Energiekabeln und Leitungen mit großen Querschnitten.
They can be used universally. Due to their continuous rail and rung perforation, they offer countless mounting options, e.g. integrated fastening of cables

on the rungs.
